Unemployment numbers are down throughout the Manhattan area, with the Manhattan metro area including Riley and Pottawatomie Counties showing a 2.9 percent rate this September, compared to 3.7 the month before and 3.4 percent in September of last year. The Manhattan Metro with Junction City also shows a fairly low rate of 3.5 percent.  The City of Manhattan Riley County section showed 2.7 percent.
Junction City by itself had a 5.6 percent rate, which is down from 6.5 in August.
Area counties’ rates also were down, with Riley County’s at 2.9, Pottawatomie at three percent, Clay at 3.2, and Geary County, which tends to be higher at 5.6 percent.
