Dealing With Herbicide Resistant Weeds will be the topic at the February 23rd Coffee Shop Agronomy meeting, scheduled for 10:30 am to noon at Nelson’s Landing in Leonardville. K-State weed scientist Dallas Peterson will be the featured speaker. Peterson has a PhD in Weed Science from North Dakota State University and served as the Extension Weed Specialist from 1987 through 1989. He returned to Kansas State University in 1989 and has served as the Extension Weed Specialist at Kansas State since that time. Peterson is a past-president of the Weed Science Society of America. The 2017 Book Sale at the Manhattan Public Library will be held beginning on Friday, February 24th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. This is preview night for MLA members only. Memberships sold at the door starting at $10. Times for the public will be Saturday, February 25th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sunday, February 26th, 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. The first Kansas Legislative Coffee for 2017 will be held on Saturday, February 25th, at the Zoo Educational Center at 7:30 am. There will be coffee and some assorted rolls. This event is free and open to the public.

Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Wamego invites the community to attend a special fund raising dinner to support Community Health Ministry’s “No Place Like Home” on Wednesday, March 8th. Mount Calvary will host a free-will donation dinner at the church from 5:30 – 7:00 pm, followed immediately by a special Lenten devotional service.
