General Public Lecture in Physics @ Hale Library

Michael Brooks will present the 2015 Chester Peterson, Jr. Public Lecture in Physics.  This lecture, “Welcome to Wonderland: Making sense of life in a quantum universe” will be held on Monday, April 27th at 4:30 pm in the Hemisphere Room of Hale Library at Kansas State University.  Brooks is noted for explaining complex scientific research and findings to the general public.  Copies of Dr. Brook’s newest book “At The Edge of Uncertainty” will be available for sale outside of the Hemisphere Room in the Gallery at 4:00 pm.  Dr. Brooks will be available to sign the book at that time and immediately following the lecture for a short time.  Refreshments will be available at 4:00 pm in the foyer of the Hemisphere Room.  The lecture is open to the public and is free of charge.  Students, faculty and community members are encouraged to attend.

American Music Spectacular @ Peace Memorial Auditorium

On Monday, April 27th at 7:30 pm the K-State Music Fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia will present their 2nd Annual Music Spectacular at the Peace Memorial Auditorium.  Admission is free.  Donations accepted.

Spring Indoor Sale @ Riley County Senior Center

The Riley County Seniors’ Service Center is holding its annual Spring Indoor Sale on Wednesday, April 29th and Thursday, April 30th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Friday, May 1st from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.  The sale, which is an annual fundraiser, will be held at the Center.  Center members and the public have donated items for the sale, which is open to the public.  Shoppers will find a variety of household items, kitchenware, arts and craft supplies, glassware, luggage, lamps, a brass bed frame, garden supplies, and many more items too numerous to list.  The Center will accept donations through noon on Tuesday, April 28th (no shoes, clothes, exercise equipment, televisions, or weapons, please).  The proceeds from this fundraising event support the Center’s programs and activities.

USDA Commodities @ Flint Hills Breadbasket

USDA Commodities drive-thru distribution will be Wednesday, April 29th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at the Flint Hills Breadbasket, 905 Yuma.  This is available for all income eligible Riley County Residents.  All commodities are first come first serve.  Product available include: Carrots, Orange Juice, Peaches, Cream Corn, Tomato Soup, WG Macaroni, Grape Juice, and additional perishable foods from the Breadbasket.

A Bob Hope Style U.S.O. Show @ Northview Elementary Gymnasium

Jamin’ Northstars Elementary Choir Presents: A Bob Hope Style U.S.O. Show Extravaganza!! Singing, Dancing and Jokes!  Fun costumes and great entertainment! Join them on Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st at the Northview Gymnasium at 6:30 pm.  They will be accepting donations for the local Ft. Riley U.S.O.  Welcome local V.F.W., D.A.V., American Legion, and Ft. Riley Soldiers!
