Need help enrolling in Health Insurance? Join local certified navigators to apply and enroll at the Manhattan Public Library on Wednesday, January 28th from 1:00 – 7:00 pm. You will need to bring active email address and password. For everyone in the household you will need to bring birth dates; social security numbers; Income information (W-2, 2012 Tax Return, Paycheck Stubs, Self-employment records, etc); Immigrations Documents; any information about employer, offered health insurance. Riley County Seniors’ Service Center will host “Lost Kansas Communities,” a presentation and discussion by M.J. Morgan on Wednesday, January 28th at 1:00 pm. Members of the community are invited to attend the free program. Kansas has nearly 9000 disappeared towns and communities, caused by its unusual and spectacularly fast settlement history. The variety of town types is as striking as the stories they left behind. This talk will explore research conducted on lost Kansas places and discuss problems researchers have when searching information. Effective Herbicide Programs will be the discussion topic at the January 29th Coffee Shop Agronomy meeting, scheduled for 10:30 am to noon at Nelson’s Landing. Dallas Peterson, K-State Research and Extension weed scientist, will be the featured speaker. This is the second in a series of Coffee Shop Agronomy meetings held every other Thursday this winter through February 26th. Charlie Lee will discuss lease hunting on February 12th and Dave Mengel will discuss soil health and soil science on February 26th. Reservations are requested by noon the day before each meeting.
