Library Card Day is an event that is aimed to increase literacy for children in our community by giving FREE books to any child who signs up for a library card on April 28th. It is hosted by Junior League of the Flint Hills: an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. They are partnering with the Manhattan Public Library.
A Benefit Supper For Josh Asbury will be held on Saturday, April 28th, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Wamego United Methodist Church. A Free Will Offering (minimum of $5 please) will be accepted for a Sloppy Joe, Baked Beans and Potato Salad supper complete with Dessert and a drink. The Riley County Humane Society has their third annual A Pour for A Paw Fundraiser coming up on Saturday, April 28th at 7:00 pm at the Wareham Opera House in Manhattan. It is a wine and cheese themed fundraiser with a live and silent auction, raffle, and live music. It is a really fun event!
National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm at the House of Prayer, 328 Poyntz Avenue. All faiths are welcome, a community service.
Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight will be held on Saturday, May 5th. This includes 1.5-Mile Fun Walk & Kids’ Fun Run. This event will be from 8:00 am to 10:30 am and will be Fiesta-themed for Cinco de Mayo. The Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight is a benefit for the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center. It also celebrates K-State Research and Extension’s health initiative. Walk Kansas, an 8-week program offered through Extension offices across the state and helps more than 12,000 people a year reach health and fitness goals. Run or walk in the timed 5K, or opt for the untimed 1.5-mile Fun Walk. Children age 10 and under can also do the Kids Fun Run (50-yard dash).
Manhattan AGLOW Lighthouse welcomes you to their meeting with Annette Puent on Saturday, May 5th. 9:30 am Refreshments and 10:00 am speaker. This event will be held at The House of Prayer.
