The Coffee Shop Agronomy series takes place at Nelson’s Landing in Leonardville on Thursday, January 14th and is free to the public, with refreshments provided by the Riley County Farm Bureau Association. This session’s program is Profit with Precision Ag Technology, presented by Terry Griffin, K-State Research & Extension Agriculture Economist. A MLK Jr Community Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 16th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at the Manhattan Fire Station Auditorium. Hear and see the creative work of the finalists from the MLK Jr Art and Writing contest. Share in the words and music of the civil rights movement. The speaker will be Phil S. Dixon, Kansas Humanities Council. Mr. Dixon was the co-founder of the Negro Baseball Museum and authored many books about baseball and was an expert on the Kansas City Monarchs.
A Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Four Points by Sheraton on Monday, January 18th beginning at 8:00 am. Join in prayer, reflection and breakfast to start the King Holiday. Space is limited, $10 for breakfast buffet. The speaker will be Melvin Neufeld, Kansas Human Rights Commission.
