The Italian Club of the Flint Hills is hosting a benefit to raise money for earthquake survivors in Italy. The event will be held on Friday, September 23rd, from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at St Thomas More Church, on 2900 Kimball Avenue in Manhattan. The menu features a pasta dish mixed in a homemade tomato sauce with a salt cured and spiced, Italian bacon. In addition to the pasta, the menu offers salad, homemade Italian pie and beverages. The group is offering the meal to the public for a free will donation of $12 per person. The money raised from this event will be sent to the National Italian-American Foundation for Earthquake Relief. Local Masons are hosting a free cancer screening on Saturday, October 8th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Public Health Department in Marysville. It is one of 26 free cancer screenings the Kansas Masonic Foundation is sponsoring across the region in 2016.
