All-University Open House @ Kansas State University

Students, visitors and community members are invited to find out why the future is built at Kansas State University.  On Saturday, April 1st, the Manhattan, Olathe and Polytechnic campuses will offer activities, learning, fun and food as part of the annual All-University Open House.  Open House will take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on the Manhattan campus, and from 9:00 am to 2:00 on the Olathe and Polytechnic campuses.  This all-ages event is an opportunity to discover your future at K-State while exploring some of the university’s 475-plus clubs and organizations and 250 majors and options.  Visit k-state.edu/openhouse to learn more about the annual event.

Dig out your polyester bell bottoms and platform shoes, and disco for a cure with Kansas City band Disco Dick & the Mirrorballs.  Cast your vote in the “Off the Hook” bra art contest and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and late-night munchies, desserts and a cash bar, as well as the costume contest and fun photo station.  Party with your friends while helping K-State fight cancer.  Cost is $60/person, $500/10-person table, with all proceeds supporting K-State’s Johnson Cancer Research Center.

Saturday, April 8th will be Give Kids A Smile Day at the Manhattan Area Technical College from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm for kids ages 3-14.  There will be free Cleaning Sealants and Fluoride Treatment.  For all surrounding communities.  Students will provide quality care under the supervision of experienced dentist and licensed hygienists.  No appointment needed.  Please call for more details – 785-320-4532.  Give your child a brighter smile!

Become a Homeowner!  Attend an orientation to find out if you’re eligible to purchase a home from Manhattan Habitat for Humanity on Monday, April 10th, 7:00 pm, at the Manhattan Public Library.  You may be eligible if you: Have a need for adequate housing; Have a steady income and fall within the income guidelines; are willing to contribute sweat equity hours; can make regular mortgage payments on an affordable loan; and you reside in Riley or Pottawatomie counties.  If you are interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner, you must attend one of our orientation sessions to receive an application.  To learn more, visit http://mahfh.org/

Walk for Water @ Kansas State University Bosco Plaza

Nearly two billion people lack access to safe water, and the Rotaract Club wants to make a difference.  Come on out to the KSU Rotaract Club Manhattan Walk for Water benefiting Water Mission at 10:00 am, on Saturday, April 15th at Kansas State University Bosco Plaza.  Rotaract is a Rotary club partner for young leaders ages 18-30 that promotes leadership and service.  Registration is now open.  Funds raised will benefit Water Mission, a nonprofit Christian engineering organization that builds safe water solutions in developing countries and disaster areas.  To sign up or make a donation, please go to http://www.ksurotaract.com/walk-for-water/or call 402-490-1879.
