3rd Annual Wildcat Warrior 5K @ Gen Richard B Myers Hall

The 3rd Annual Wildcat Warrior 5K will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at the General Richard B Myers Hall, Kansas State University.  Registration: 8:00 am.  5K Start: 9:00 am. Fun Run Start: 10:00 am.  $30 – 5K/ghost Runners; $25 — Per Team Participant (4 runners per team); $15 — Fun Run (1 Mile).  For more information go to http://manhattanrunnigco.com/event/wildcat-warrior-5k-2/.  Register by April 1st to be guaranteed a t-shirt.  All proceeds from the Wildcat Warrior 5K will go to improving the William Grimm Memorial.

Cancer Screening @ Masonic Lodge

Local Masonic Lodges are hosting two free cancer screening events on Saturday, April 22nd.  The first one is from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at 621 Humboldt Street in Manhattan and the second is from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at 519 Lincoln Avenue in Wamego.  The screenings are free and open to the public.  The events include skin and prostate screenings as well as Screen-to-Save colon cancer risk assessments – with free home screening kits for those who qualify.  In addition, bone density tests and facial sun damage assessments will be available, along with mammography services from Diagnostic Imaging Services.  Mammography services may incur a fee.  For more information call 913-945-7533 or llong2@kumc.edu.

Geary County Orchestra Celebration @ Junction City Middle School

Geary County Schools USD 475 will be hosting a festival celebrating ten years of orchestra in the schools on Saturday, April 22nd at Junction City Middle School.  There will be a free concert at 3:00 pm at Junction City Middle School.  This concert will include some string players from all three secondary schools: Fort Riley Middle School, Junction City Middle School and Junction City High School.

Enid Stover Poetry Recitation @ Manhattan Public Library

Ethiopia Reads Run/Walk @ Bosco Plaza

Join The KMortar Board on Sunday, April 23rd, as they host a family-friendly 5K/2.5K run/walk benefiting Ethiopia Reads!  The race will start at Bosco Plaza at 2:00 pm and will be officially timed by Manhattan Running Company using the ChronoTrack timing system. Resume Workshop For Teens @ Manhattan Public Library

Pig Out For Parkinson’s @ Cox Bros BBQ

The 7th Annual Pig Out For Parkinson’s benefiting the Meadowlark Parkinson’s program will be held on Thursday, April 27th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm at Cox Bros BBQ.  Autographs & photos with Coach Bill Snyder (during lunch).  $2.00 Pork Sliders all day.  From 6 – 9 pm there will be a Hog Roast Buffet, Beer Garden, Country singer Bryton Stoll performing, Rock Steady Meadowlark Boxing demonstration.  Register to win an NFL Pro Bowl Jersey autographed by Jordy Nelson.  Raffle tickets are $1 for one ticket or $5 for six tickets.  Winner drawn at 8:50 pm.  Need not be present to win.

Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale @ First United Methodist Church

The Spring Concert for the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale will be at 7:30 pm on April 27th at the First United Methodist Church, 629 Poyntz Avenue.  It will feature Nanie by Johannes Brahms and Mass in Time of War by Franz Joseph Haydn.  Admission is free, bot donations will be accepted at the door to offset the cost of the performance.
