The Travel and Dining Auction will be held on Saturday, April 21st, at the Kansas State Union Grand Ballroom from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. There will be a lot of excitement including a meal offered, an open cash bar, silent and live auction, and a Beer/Wine Wall. This event is to raise funds for Hospitality Scholarships. The Riley County Humane Society has their third annual A Pour for A Paw Fundraiser coming up on Saturday, April 28th at 7:00 pm at the Wareham Opera House in Manhattan. It is a wine and cheese themed fundraiser with a live and silent auction, raffle, and live music. It is a really fun event!
National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, May 3rd at 7:00 pm at the House of Prayer, 328 Poyntz Avenue. All faiths are welcome, a community service.
Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight will be held on Saturday, May 5th. This includes 1.5-Mile Fun Walk & Kids’ Fun Run. This event will be from 8:00 am to 10:30 am and will be Fiesta-themed for Cinco de Mayo. The Walk Kansas 5K for the Fight is a benefit for the Kansas State University Johnson Cancer Research Center. It also celebrates K-State Research and Extension’s health initiative. Walk Kansas, an 8-week program offered through Extension offices across the state and helps more than 12,000 people a year reach health and fitness goals. Run or walk in the timed 5K, or opt for the untimed 1.5-mile Fun Walk. Children age 10 and under can also do the Kids Fun Run (50-yard dash).
The Spring Concert by the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale will feature “The Peacemakers” by Karl Jenkins. Held on May 8th at 7:30 pm, the concert will be at First United Methodist Church, 630 Poyntz Avenue. The chorale, directed by Dr. Julie Yu, will be joined by the Flint Hills Children’s Choir and K-State’s University Choir. There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of the performance.
Whether you’d like to do some “California Dreamin” or be moved by “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” a variety of music from traditional to pop will be performed by Timeless A Cappella, Tuesday, May 15th, at the Manhattan Arts Center. The one hour concert begins at 7:30 pm. Also performing on May 15th is The 4 Gems Quartet. The quartet has performed at numerous church, community and civic groups. A free will donation will be collected at the concert.
