After 3 good years, 3rd Friday Music will be wrapping it up on Friday, October 21st. If you’ve been meaning to go but just haven’t gotten around to it, this is your last chance! They’ll be at Nelson’s Family Farm in Olsburg. Supper is usually around 6:00 pm and music starts at 7:00 pm. Special guests for this special night are Steve Seitz, Bob Cervera, Jeb Bolan, M.L. Stahl and Tony Ridder.
The Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley, or HASFR, offers its annual Ghost Tour, on Sunday, October 23rd between 4 and 7:40 pm. Tours depart from the Artillery Parade Field every 20 minutes, with the last tour departing at 7:20 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Fast passes, allowing movement to the front of the line, all four ghost books and other HASFR merchandise, are available for purchase. Visitors without a Department of Defense ID card are reminded to enter Fort Riley through the Henry Gate and get a pass at the visitor center. For details about access procedures, call 785-239-2982.
The next meeting of the Pawnee Mental Health Services’ Board of Directors will be on Tuesday, October 25th, at 4:00 pm, in the Conference Room of Pawnee’s Clay Center office. The meeting is open to the public.
USDA Commodities drive-thru distribution will be Wednesday, October 26th, at 4:00 pm at the Flint Hills Breadbasket. Product will be given out, until gone. This is available for all income eligible Riley County Residents. All commodities are first come first serve. Product available includes: Corn, Vegetable Soup, Mixed Fruit, Raisins, Canned Salmon, Peanut Butter, Cranberry Juice, Great Northern Beans, and Whole Grain Spaghetti.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend the Annual Soup Supper on Thursday, October 27th starting at 5:30 pm. Taste a variety of delicious soups donated by local restaurants. Bread and dessert will also be served. The Manhattan High School POPS Choir will entertain at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the Soup Supper are $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets go on sale on Monday, October 3rd.
The Vineyard Community Church is hosting a 5K/10K Run/Walk for Christ on Saturday, October 29th at 10:00 am at Northeast Community Park (Linear Trail) at 680 Knox Lane. The event is free and open to the public.
