Update: Apartment complex fire ruled accidental, damage estimated over $100,000

MANHATTAN — The Manhattan Fire Department has determined Wednesday night’s fire at the Brookfield Residences apartment building was accidental. Investigators determined the fire started on the second-floor porch balcony due to improperly discarded smoking materials.
