Fort Riley Soldier Involved in Fatal Car Accident

The name of a Fort Riley Soldier killed in an accident Thursday morning has been released by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Thomas Packer, 26, was involved in an accident at approximately 3:30 AM.
Packer was driving southbound on US Highway 77, when he ran into a semi truck traveling northbound. Packer left the west edge of the roadway and entered the ditch, and according to the KHP he over-corrected back onto the road, causing the semi truck to strike his Ford F-150 on the passenger side. Both vehicles then came to a stop in the ditch.
Packer was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 5:30 AM. The KHP reports he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.
