The Junction City Police Department has yet another scam to report–the second in as many days. According to Lt. Jeff Childs, JCPD has received numerous calls from citizens regarding telephone calls that they have received from persons identifying themselves as IRS agents. The subjects are telling the person that receives the call that they owe back taxes and that if they do not send payment right away that they will be arrested.
The Junction City Police Department wants to inform the citizens of Junction City that this is a scam and not to send any money or give any personal information to the subject. This is not the way that the IRS collects on taxes owed.
The Junction City Police Department would like to remind the citizens of Junction City that with the Holidays approaching that more of these scams may present themselves and that you should use common sense when being contacted. If you feel that you have been a victim of a scam contact the Junction City Police Department at 785-762-5912 to make a report.
Tuesday’s scam involved an alleged call from Junction City about a water bill.
