A Manhattan man faces several charges following an incident that began near the intersection of Third Street and Bluemont Avenue early Friday morning. Braxton Jumper, 22, was arrested at approximately 1:45 AM for several alcohol related offenses.
Riley County Police made the arrest after attempting to initiate a traffic stop for a traffic violation near that intersection. At the time of this attempted traffic stop Jumper fled the area, ultimately stopping due to vehicle issues related to striking a curb near the intersection of 5th Street and Bluemont Avenue.
Jumper exited the vehicle and fled on foot for a short distance but officers reportedly were able to quickly detain him. Jumper was arrested for the offenses of driving while under the influence, fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, interference with law enforcement, reckless driving, refusal to submit to a test for drugs or alcohol, and ignition interlock device tampering.
His bond was set at $10,000.

The Riley County Police Department served a search warrant in the 1300 block of Flint Hills Place in Manhattan Thursday evening and recovered two firearms that were listed as stolen, valued at approximately $1,650.  Javon Gray, 18, of Manhattan was arrested as a result and was transported to the Riley County Jail for the offenses of possession of stolen property and contributing to a child’s misconduct. Gray’s bond is reportedly $18,000.

A 16-year-old child was listed as the victim of the contributing to a child’s misconduct charge, after police learned the stolen firearms were also in his possession. Police continue to investigate the matter and at the time of this report no further information was available.

A Green, Kansas man listed on the Riley County Police Most Wanted list earlier this week has been arrested. Police in Riley County took Cody Hood, 23, into custody Thursday night at about 8:35 on a warrant for two counts of distributing certain hallucinogenics drugs and criminal possession of a weapon by a felon.

Hood was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department and given a bond of $10,000 through Riley County District Court. The warrant stems from an incident in March of this year.

A Lawrence man was arrested on an out of jurisdiction warrant by Riley County Police Thursday.  Miguel Parra Olea, 24, was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department at approximately 3:50 PM.

Parra Olea was arrested on a warrant for motion to revoke probation through Saline County. He was given “no bond” and at the time of this report he was confined at the Riley County Jail.
