Riley County Police ended a bicycle theft spree after making an arrest on Thursday morning around 11:30 a.m. Prior to the arrest the RCPD alerted the community to a rash of bicycle thefts in Manhattan via Twitter and Facebook. With assistance from the community officers were able to identify a suspect and make an arrest.

RCPD arrested Roy Patterson III, 47, of Topeka, on the offense of theft of property or services (X5). He was also arrested on the offenses of trafficking contraband into a correctional facility and possession of opiates, opium, or narcotic drugs. He was given a total bond of $18,000.

Police seized several stolen bikes and are currently seeking information on their original owners. If you have been the victim of a bike theft in the past several weeks and have not yet reported it to police, contact RCPD at 785-537-2112.
