Taylor Swift is one of the stars of the upcoming movie The Giver, based on the popular young adult novel, but she’s not on the soundtrack. The artists who are on the soundtrack are still pretty good, though.
As previously reported, OneRepublic has contributed a brand-new track to the project. The song, called “Ordinary Human,” was written specifically for the movie. The soundtrack also includes the OneRepublic song “I Lived,” which appears on their current album Native.
In a statement, singer Ryan Tedder says, “The Giver is a favorite book of ours and we’re all incredibly thrilled to see it brought to the big screen. It’s a huge honor to contribute our music to a movie that’s not only an amazing story, but also has a cast of actors that we admire so much, like Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep. We hope our fans are just as excited about it as we are.”
In addition to OneRepublic, the collection includes “Here Today” by Aloe Blacc, from his current album Lift Your Spirit; a song called “Whole,” by British band Rixton; and “One Minute More,” the current single by “Safe and Sound” duo Capital Cities.
The soundtrack arrives August 5; the movie itself is in theaters August 15.
