The unemployment rate in metropolitan Manhattan has gone down since both the month and year before, with a 2.6 rate in October. According to Kansas Department of Labor numbers released Friday, the 2.6 is lower than September’s 2.9 and the three percent recorded in October of last year. Manhattan combined with the Junction City micropolitan area had a 3.2 percent rate, also lower than the month and year prior.Manhattan’s numbers for just Riley County is 2.3 percent–again the lowest in the last month or year.
Junction City and Geary County had a 5.5 percent rate in October, the same as September but lower than last year’s by more than a half percentage. Junction City by itself was 5.2 percent.
Other area counties and their numbers include Riley with 2.6, Pottawatomie with 2.8, Geary County with 5.5, and Clay County with 3.5 percent.
