MANHATTAN — Arraignment for a Manhattan man accused in the death of an infant last fall has been delayed until next month.

D’Khari Lyons, 23, appeared with counsel at a hearing Monday where Judge Meryl Wilson granted a continuance for 30 days. No plea was entered in court. Lyons is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 2-month-old Michael Calvert Jr. He remains incarcerated in Riley County Jail.

According to testimony from Calvert’s mother earlier this month in Riley County District Court, Lyons was watching the child while she had stepped out to take her other two children to school the morning of Nov. 8. She returned home to find the injured child unresponsive. He died three days later at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.

Lyons will now be arraigned March 18 at 2:30 p.m.
