Injury accident in Geary County

The Geary County Sheriff’s Department responded to an injury accident Sunday morning in the 14,000 block of Moyer Ranch Road involving a school bus. Reports indicate Dana Pleas of Junction City, was traveling west bound in a 1999 GMC Bus when she lost control striking an embankment.  Two juveniles were transported to the Geary Community Hospital for non­life threatening injuries.

Unemployment a little higher in area

Unemployment numbers for the Manhattan area are up just a bit–although still relatively low when compared to the rest of the state. The Manhattan metropolitan area including Riley and Pottawatomie counties had a 3.5 percent rate in January, up from 2.8 in December. The Manhattan/Junction City combined area had 4.1 compared to 3.2 in December.
