WAMEGO — Authorities in Pottawatomie County are investigating a death of a man whose body was pulled from the Kansas River Christmas Eve near Wamego.

According to Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat, the man’s name has not been released as investigators work to positively identify him. The death is being investigated as suspicious. Multiple agencies responded to the scene shortly after 10 a.m. Monday after a report of a body located in the north bank of the river about a half mile west of Wamego.

The Sheriff’s Office’s Water Rescue Craft was launched from the Wamego boat ramp and Manhattan Fire Water Rescue assisted in recovering the body.
