History was made Monday as the Riley County Police Department promoted Erin Freidline to the position of Captain.

Freidline, who joined RCPD in August 2000 as a patrol officer has risen through the ranks to become the department’s highest ranking female in its 45-year history. Through her career she’s worked in the civil process section as a school resource officer at Manhattan High School, served on multiple committees and hiring boards, was an active recruiter and served as an ACLEA accreditation liaison. The promotion puts Captain Freidline in command of the Support Division.

A Kansas State graduate with a degree in sociology, Freidline was raised in Illinois and later earned a Master’s degree in Executive Leadership from Liberty University. She’s also a graduate of the 264th session of the FBI National Academy, has been a National Institute of Justice LEADS scholar and last year was honored with the 2017 International Association of Chiefs of Police 40 under 40.

Freidline will join KMAN’s In Focus program Nov. 30 alongside current outgoing RCPD Director Brad Schoen.
