MANHATTAN — Kansas Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) is holding its annual conference at Kansas State University this week.
On Monday, several events including presentations were held at the student union, including mock business proposals by students. Quin Napier from Shawnee Mission East High School, spoke with News Radio KMAN about his presentation.

Napier says they documented what they did throughout the entire process and made a video to present to judges. Holly Frigon from Shawnee Mission East spoke about her innovation plan presentation.

Frigon says this event and DECA has solidified her pursuit of going into business when she goes to college. Charter Association Advisor Scott Jones says the students gain a lot from this event.

Jones says the reaction from students on this event has been mostly positive.

This is the first year for the DECA Conference in Manhattan which has brought more than 850 Kansas high school and prospective college students, interested in careers in hospitality, tourism, finance and marketing. The Manhattan Convention & Visitors Bureau hopes to make the DECA Conference an annual event in Manhattan.
