The following summary of calls for service/reports filed by the Riley County Police Department is a portion of those received by police.  Some names, addresses, and case details are withheld to follow local, state, and federal law as well as in an attempt to protect community members from being victimized further.  Those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Officers filed a report for theft in the 100 block of Manhattan Town Center in Manhattan on December 9, 2019, at approximately 2:50 PM. Officers listed Footlocker as the victim when it was reported four unknown suspects took merchandise from the business. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $1,200.00. Police ask that anyone with information please contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers filed a report for criminal damage to property in the 1100 block of Laramie St. in Manhattan on December 9, 2019, at approximately 6:15 PM. Officers listed a 27-year-old female as the victim when she reported an unknown suspect damaged her tan Chrysler Sebring. The estimated total loss is unknown but is expected to be over $1,500.00. Police ask that anyone with information please contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Officers responded to an injury crash near the intersection of K-18 and Riley Avenue on December 9, 2019, at approximately 5:35 AM. When officers arrived on scene the 7 vehicles listed below had crashed:

Vehicle #1: 2003 silver Honda Accord driven by Taralynn Gresham, 19, of Manhattan

Vehicle #2: 2019 gray Hyundai Kona driven by Austin Carpenter, 25, of Manhattan

Vehicle #3: 2015 black Mini Cooper driven by Stephanie Cruz Soto, 23, of Manhattan

Vehicle #4: 2018 black GMC Sierra driven by Matthew Naimon, 26, of Manhattan

Vehicle #5: 2019 gray Ford Escape driven by Paula Arriaga, 26, of Manhattan

Vehicle #6: 2015 black Ford Mustang driven by Randall Seitz Jr., 25, of Manhattan

Vehicle #7: 2017 silver Nissan Sentra driven by Denise Erickson, 48, of Manhattan

The report states driver of vehicle #1 failed to stop their vehicle when the driver of #2’s vehicle slowed down. Driver #1’s vehicle struck driver #2’s vehicle causing a chain of rear ends to occur behind them. Gresham and two passengers in vehicle #1 were transported to Via Christi for treatment of their injuries.
