JUNCTION CITY — A Salina truck driver was injured Wednesday morning when his semi crashed on Interstate 70 in Geary County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says shortly before 7:30 a.m. an eastbound semi lost traction due to slick roads which caused the trailer to jack knife. The trailer slid off I-70 into the south ditch and overturned onto its side. It happened two miles west of the U.S. 77 and I-70 junction.

The driver, 29-year-old Derek Towery was transported to Geary Community Hospital in Junction City with a suspected minor injury. KHP said the vehicle was left on scene to be removed later once conditions improved. Towery was the lone occupant in the semi. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
