The murder of a Junction City woman is being handled as a contract killing, according to a release by Geary County Attorney Krista Blaisdell on Monday.

Mashaun Baker, 33, is charged with first degree murder and is suspected of hiring Dion Green to kill 31-year-old Jenna Schafer.

Green, 33, is charged with two counts of first degree murder for the suspected killing of Schafer, who was pregnant at the time of her death. The second charge is for Green’s alleged killing of Schafer’s unborn child.

The two are scheduled to go before Geary County District Court Judge Charles A. Zimmerman Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 9 a.m.

JUNCTION CITY — A second suspect is charged in connection to the shooting death of a woman in Junction City Christmas Day.

Junction City Police say 33-year-old Mashaun Jay Baker, of Junction City was arrested Wednesday on capital murder in reference to the death of 31-year-old Jenna Schafer. Baker was transported to the Geary County Detention Center where he is being held without bond pending first appearance in Geary County District Court.

Police found Schafer dead in her apartment Christmas morning from an apparent gunshot wound. Later that day, police arrested 33-year-old Dion Green of Junction City on a charge of first-degree murder.

Police say no further information is being released at this time.
