Amid a slew of other tailgates, one tailgate will be raising awareness about mental health as well as raising funds.

Carl’s Cause along with K-State Counseling Services and the Wildcat Wellness Coalition organized the tailgate in memory of K-State graduate Carl Sprecht. Carl Sprecht was diagnosed with bipolar disorder while attending K-State before taking his own life in 2017. Saturday would have been his 29th birthday.

Free snacks, sodas and games will be featured at the tailgate. It starts at 9 a.m. on the east side of the Bill Snyder Family Stadium parking lot in the grassy area adjacent to the Chester E. Peters Recreation Complex.

Additionally, they’ll be providing resources on mental health awareness as well as taking donations in Carl’s name to Katie’s Way, a charity with the mission of improving the lives of young adults and teens with mental health challenges.
