MANHATTAN — An investigation continues into the shooting incident outside the Kansas State University Foundation Building Thursday morning. No injuries were reported.

Kansas State University Police completed their preliminary investigation and the scene was released for normal activity at around 12:30 p.m. A short time later, Kansas State University Police say the victim showed up at the Riley County Police Department headquarters. RCPD spokesperson Hali Rowland tells KMAN that person was interviewed by police and information was then relayed to campus police, which Kansas State University Police confirm. That person’s vehicle had two visible bullet holes in the windshield.

According to police scanner traffic, shortly after 11 a.m. at least two, and possibly more shots were fired in the back parking lot of the Kansas State Foundation building. Two vehicles then reportedly sped out of the parking lot. A suspect vehicle description was later given via scanner traffic as possibly an older model white Buick LaCrosse with dark tinted windows. The driver was described by dispatch as a possibly Hispanic or African-American male. The passenger was described by dispatch as a light-skinned African-American male with long-thin dreadlocks. Law enforcement have not confirmed a second vehicle description. No arrests have been made as of this report.

Police believe the situation was the result of a dispute that began off-campus and was unrelated to the university. The victim was not a student.

An alert was sent out from various KSU social media accounts around 11 a.m. At the time, the public was asked to avoid the area and those at the Foundation were asked to shelter in place.

Kansas State University Police continues to investigate with the assistance of RCPD. Further information will be provided by K-State Police.
