This makes complete sense, especially considering how ugly my Facebook feed has been in the last…let’s call it five years.

A study out of Michigan State and Cal State Fullerton shows that, if you enjoy making people feel embarrassed or angry, you’re more likely to be addicted to social media.

Researchers tracked the activity of 472 college students on both Facebook and Snapchat. They found the ones who were the most addicted were the most likely to engage in cyberbullying, which led them to conclude that social media was basically designed to those who seek rewards for being cruel.

If they came to that conclusion just based on Facebook and Snapchat, imagine if they had added Twitter into that.

*shudder*
