Never let it be said Kansas City doesn’t support it’s teams.

Thousands upon thousands of Chiefs fans are packed along the parade route in downtown KC to welcome the Super Bowl champions. Video of the event is provided courtesy of 41 Action News in Kansas City.

The event is cold, with snowflakes falling and temperatures hovering in the mid-20s, but, as you can see, the weather didn’t slow anyone down.

Tragedy almost struck early, however, as a car broke through a barricade and started driving on the parade course. Law enforcement acted quickly, using stop sticks and offensive driving techniques to prevent the driver from plowing into the crowd nearby. Officials were quick to state that they didn’t believe terrorism to be the cause, and suspected intoxication as a potential factor.

The parade route will lead to Union Station, where a pep rally is slated to start at 1:30 p.m.
